[Joshua 10.22] [‘Bring out the 5 kings’] vs 24 ‘Joshua told the captains of the army to put their feet on the kings necks’
6) FAITH We continue to look at SIXTH SENSE! We read in Hebrews 11:3 that- “by faith we understand that the entire universe was created and formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen” For a Christian it has to be by faith that we believe this! ‘Faith is the substance’ [verse 1]. The universe in which we dwell is made of substance; matter! But the universe is not and was not eternal, so how did something appear from nothing? The unbeliever will say there was a big bang, and I’m inclined to agree, after all, when God said ‘let there be light’, it wouldn’t have been a little pop and a squeak; it would have been an awesome ignition of pure eternal spiritual light, energy and power; forming matter and thus the universe in which we live! Where I would disagree of course would be on the issue of the FIRST CAUSE! The unbeliever must believe that something was created out of nothing; this is greater faith than the Christian exercises because how could you get a big bang without combustible materials, oxygen and heat and a spark needed to create a big bang? There was nothing, then an explosion! But no one will say how that explosion occurred without matter being there in the first place!
We Christians however believe God created something out of nothing or better still ‘through His spiritual, invisible substance that became visible tangible matter He created the universe’. That’s faith! It believes that the invisible God supernaturally created that which we see. We are accused of having a blind faith! No, we see more clearly than anyone, because like the proverbial Chicken and the egg, the unbeliever goes around in circles! They ask “which came first the egg or the chicken?” For us it’s simple, the Bible say’s “God created the fowl of the air and land and then He commanded them to multiply”. Simple, the chicken came first by God’s command and then He told them to lay eggs! We understand this through God’s special [divine] revelation, not through human speculation! That makes life so much simpler. But the argument will go on ‘if God is the first cause then who created God?’ Well that at first seems a logical question until you realise that if God is the FIRST cause then there is nothing before Him! First means FIRST! He is the first and the last cause. You can’t argue for a creator who created God because, God then is no longer God, the one who created Him is God! But then you have to ask ‘who is the one who created the one who created the one whom we believe is God? You see, it’s an illogical circular argument. God was, period! He pre-existed before anything else. So, we rely on our SIXTH sense [FAITH] to believe that the visible came from the invisible and that the invisible is more real than the visible! See Romans chapter 1 verse 20! Now go chew on this for a while.
