THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

REFRESH AND STAY FRESH

Proverbs 11:24-25, 28 & 30 “It is possible to give freely and become more wealthy…The generous prosper and are satisfied; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. Trust in your money and down you go, but the godly flourish like leaves in the spring. The godly are like trees that bear life giving fruit, and those who save lives are wise”.

There is a living parable in the heart of Israel! The river Jordan runs in to the Sea of Galilee [lake Tiberious] it flows in one end and flows out the other! It is a fresh, vital lake and it is full of life, I know; I have swum in it! Yet, about 30 miles down the road, that very same river flows in to a sea that’s as dead as a Dodo! I know I swam in that one also! One river, two very different lakes! What is the difference? One receives and gives and thus stays fresh, the other receives but fiercely holds on to its supply! Yet it’s lifeless, stinky, and oily and I have to say disgusting, it’s waters made me heave and I had to get out.

So, I guess the question is, ‘which lake am I? Which one are you?’ And it’s not just about money! The river represents all the good things we have in life! Health, talents, skills and life gifts! Happiness, love etc! They are for sharing not for holding tightly on to! So, press your refresh button now and go spread some goodness.

Let's make a start. I am a Christian but I guess that's pretty obvious. I am a gardener, builder by trade. I live in the Black country. I love 50s 60s 70s and 80s music. I play guitar and sing. I do open mic nights, I love growing veg and flowers, but I don't eat the flowers. Well I eat cauliflowers but that's not the same. If you need a good Gardener/bricklayer/landscaper and plasterer, not all in one go of course then contact me. My business is Dedicated In Gardens or D.I.G. Do you get it! Or do you dig it? johnkarlw@gmail.com
