Galatians 4:4 ‘But when the right time came, the time God decided upon, He sent His son, born of a woman, born as a Jew’.

I love this subject so much so that I’ll have to spend a few days on it. Firstly at around about the “SAME TIME” that a virgin is impregnated by the Holy Spirit, the decree goes out from Caesar Augustus, the Emperor of Rome that a census should be taken throughout the nation. [Luke 2:1] Now let’s think about this. Mary had to be at the age of being able to conceive, but she also had to be ovulating at the right time, and she had to have the seed in her ovary that was right to produce the body of Jesus in whom the Christ would be incarnated in to! But secondly, the timing also had to be right to ensure Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem “AT THE RIGHT TIME” because Joseph was a member of David’s line [Luke 2:4] and Jesus had to be born and registered in Bethlehem to fulfil prophesy! He couldn’t be born before they arrived in Bethlehem, and he couldn’t be born after the census was taken. Imagine the logistical headache if humans had to get this kind of timing right! No, here we see the miraculous! God’s timing is absolutely spot on.

I’m so glad of this, but it’s still easy to miss God’s perfect timing and to choose second best. Jonah is a classic of this! Yes, he eventually got to Nineveh, but look at the damage he caused on the way! Also Samson who left a trail of destruction behind him till eventually after much suffering and pain, he fulfilled God’s and his own destiny and purpose, but Oh, the pain and carnage that could have been averted if only he had been a bit more patient! I don’t know about you, but there are things I’ve been praying for for a long time, and yes, I’ve tried to move God’s programme forward and coerce God like Joseph did when he was in the Egyptian prison, but when we do, we can shipwreck other’s lives and create a mess which God then usually has to clean up after us! Believe me I know. I have left a trail of heartache behind me. Yes it’s all forgiven and forgotten [except of course for the scars and the lessons!] So now, I wait for God to act! That doesn’t mean I sit back and do nothing, but now if I sense a red or amber light from Holy Spirit, I’ll wait and pray, and go back to the word of God until I get the green light. But if the light stays on red [NO] or amber [NOT YET] then I wait until God says [YES] the green light of go!

This Christmas time let us synchronise our lives with God’s perfect will and plan for us! Ok, we’ll make a mistake or two, but as we learn to listen and wait, our wills will eventually sync with God’s.

PRAYER Heavenly Father God. Thank you for this wonderful time of year. Thank you that at just the right time, when the conditions were right for Messiah to be incarnated He was, in your way, in your place and in your time. Thank you for the beautiful words in Ecclesiastes “He has made everything beautiful in its time”. Thank you Father that when everything falls in to place in your time and by your will, it is then beautiful. The timing for the incarnation was beautiful, and because of it the one born was, is and will ever be beautiful. Thank you heavenly Father for your beautiful and perfect timing. Amen
