THE BEST IS YET TO COME

TODAY’S WORD FOR TODAY

What’s Stopping You? Fear of Success! (2)

‘…Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.’

Psalms 35:27

Fear of success is characterised by these six behaviours; see if you have any of them: 1) Procrastinating. 2) Underperforming. 3) Focusing on those who reject you rather than those who accept you. 4) Allowing yourself to be side-tracked by so many insignificant things that you never get focused on the main thing. 5) Talking about what you plan to do ‘someday’. 6) Feeling others are worthy of success but not you.

Question: Are you serving the Lord? Then you qualify for success! ‘…Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.’ Yes, God will help you when you are in need. But He also wants you to succeed so that you can begin to meet the needs of others. God told Abraham two things. First, He promised to bless him greatly. Second, He promised to make him a great blessing to others (Genesis 12:2). And it happened! Solomon writes, ‘…money answers everything’ (Ecclesiastes 10:19 NKJV). What did he mean? Money builds schools, churches and hospitals. It eradicates poverty and illiteracy. It finances research that cures life-threatening illnesses. But some of us are so focused on heaven’s streets of gold that we no longer see earth’s streets filled with suffering and unmet needs. Understand this: God will reward you based on your service to others. ‘…the King will answer and say to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you did it to one of the least of these…you did it to Me’” (Matthew 25:40 NKJV). That should be your greatest motivation for wanting to succeed.

“The Lord be magnified!”  How on earth can we magnify God the Lord? To magnify is to make bigger, to augment, to amplify! God is MAGNIFICENT, SUPREME, EXCELLENT, TRANSCENDENT, MATCHLESS, PEERLESS and OF THE HIGHEST ORDER! What can we add to this?  In fact whatever superlatives you come up with, God supersedes them all by far. So, why does the psalmist encourage us to “magnify the Lord [who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant?”] my take on it is this, we cannot magnify God in heaven anymore than He is. The universe nor heaven can truly contain Him! No I believe that when we allow God to give us success, to enlarge our borders, to make us more fruitful, to increase us and not to decrease us and to honour us on earth, this magnifies Him IN THE EYES OF THE UNBELIEVER AND DOUBTERS!

Folk see us succeed, they ask why, we say “it’s the blessing of God upon our lives for serving Him on earth”. They cannot deny what their eyes behold! So God becomes a bit bigger in their eyes and the world much smaller! This small thing immensely honours the Lord and as the psalmist states, IT BRINGS HIM PLEASURE! I’ve seen it in my own life and the lives of others too. I am seeing it weekly at the Church I attend GATEWAY CHRISTIAN CENTRE. We serve and honour God in every way possible, the Church is growing exponentially. Believers and unbelievers are amazed at God’s presence, anointing and ‘felt love’ there. It’s God, yes; but our service is making God look bigger than peoples doubts, uncertainties and unbelief . This honours Him, brings Him pleasure and so He pours Himself out even more to us and then more and more lives are changed, touched and blessed. This MAGNIFIES THE LORD, and on top of all this, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

More of this tomorrow.
