ARE YOU UNDER THE BLOOD?
I thought todays Word For Today was not only good but the timing very apt! Today is elul 29 the climax of the Jewish Shemitah. It may mean nothing, but hey, why not be absolutely sure, after all, the wisest man on earth second to Jesus said:-
A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. Proverbs 27:12 New Living Translation. Here’s Bob Gass.
TODAY’S WORD FOR TODAY
‘…He will see the blood…and…not permit the destroyer [THE ANGEL OF DEATH] to enter your houses…’
When the angel of death visited Egypt, only those whose doorposts were painted with lamb’s blood were protected from ‘the destroyer’. And the blood of Jesus [the Lamb of God] is still your best protection from the enemy who ‘…prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour’ (1 Peter 5:8 NLT). One author writes: ‘When [satan] sees a person or home that’s covered by the blood…he moves on. He’d rather find easy prey than mess with one who belongs to the Lord. Just like a robber prefers someone who is unaware of his surroundings, is not paying attention, and appears weak, the enemy chooses his victims based on what seems like a sure thing. Make him look elsewhere… cover your home and loved ones with the…blood of Jesus.’ God put a hedge around Gomer, the prophet Hosea’s wife, to protect her from adulterous relationships and draw her back to her husband. He said, ‘…I will fence her in with thorn bushes. I will block her path with a wall to make her lose her way’ (Hosea 2:6 NLT). Before your family leaves home in the morning, ask God to place His hedge of divine protection around them, to safeguard them throughout the day and block their path from wrong influences. God has given you authority over satan, so tell him: ‘You’ve no right to harm my loved ones in any way. I take authority over you in the Name of Jesus and through the power of the blood. I declare null and void any strategies and schemes you’ve planned.
So, who knows what today or tomorrow will bring for us? As for me, I’ll be taking communion this morning at home, remembering the cross, the blood and the name of Jesus Christ. And here’s a couple of Psalms I’ll be using too.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and loving kindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Psalm 91 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Security of the One Who Trusts in the Lord.
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust!”
3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper
And from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with His pinions,
And under His wings you may seek refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.
5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night,
Or of the arrow that flies by day;
6 Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.
7 A thousand may fall at your side
And ten thousand at your right hand,
But it shall not approach you.
8 You will only look on with your eyes
And see the recompense of the wicked.
9 For you have made the Lord, my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place.
10 No evil will befall you,
Nor will any plague come near your tent.
11 For He will give His angels charge concerning you,
To guard you in all your ways.
12 They will bear you up in their hands,
That you do not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you will trample down.
14 “Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.
15 “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honour him.
16 “With a long life I will satisfy him
And let him see My salvation.”
