I was reading this passage in the Bible this morning and meditating upon it. So I would like to share a few thoughts on it if I may?

That evening the disciples came to Jesus and said, “This place is like a desert, and it is already late. Let the crowds leave, so they can go to the villages and buy some food.” Jesus replied, “They don’t have to leave. Why don’t you give them something to eat?”  But they said, “We have only five small loaves of breadand two fish.” Jesus asked his disciples to bring the food to him,  and he told the crowd to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish. He looked up toward heaven and gave thanks for the food. Then he broke the bread and gave it to his disciples, and they gave it to the people. After everyone had eaten all they wanted, Jesus’ disciples picked up twelve large baskets of leftovers. Matthew 14:13-21

We all have some need or another, be it for work, or finances. Someone to love, friendship, a word from the Lord, healing, a massive miracle, an open door of opportunity or even a door to close! Some extra food in the cupboard or a debt to pay off? The principles above still apply! Note firstly:

  1. The disciples didn’t want to have to deal with the need, in fact they wished it would take wings and fly away. Maybe they were just too dog tired to deal with it or simply wanted to sweep it under the carpet and pretend it wasn’t there! BUT IT STILL IS! And it won’t go away. I am having to daily face the needs I have and I know it’s pointless wishing them away or that things were the same as they were last year or many years ago. It’s not the same now and reality deals with the NOW not THEN nor WHEN, but NOW! So how do we deal with it? “NOW FAITH!” Hebrews 11:1. By faith take the need to Jesus and ask Him to help you with this need. You don’t have to know HOW just remember WHO!
  2. As you give the need to Him, He then gives the need to the Father, [the King and Creator of all things]. Jesus seated at the right hand of the Father, making intercession for all His people takes your need to the Father, gives thanks to the Father, then gives it back to you full and complete.
  3. Now you have all you need and more. But it’s not solely for you, it’s to bless and benefit others too! Pressed down and running over. So now you can give to others
  4. Jesus gave thanks for the small meal, gave the multiplication to the disciples for them then to give to the needy crowd.  Note how many times the word GAVE is used and implied! The small meal is GIVEN to Jesus, Jesus GIVES it to the Father in thanks and faith. Jesus then GIVES the multiplying food to the disciples for the disciples to GIVE to the crowd. Then The leftovers are GIVEN to the disciples. 12 baskets left over! One basket-full for each disciple!

So, whatever your need, no matter how small and seemingly insignificant, give it to Jesus and see what He can do with it for you. Remember, He is Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides in that place! The place of need. Take it to Him now.
